Blog News and Notes – 05.19.13: Transition Period

Without disclosing personal details, I can say I’m in a transitional period; with it comes a time to reassess my priorities. Hence, Concourse Expressions will also undergo transition. Unfortunately, it means breaking some promises (sorry), but I absolutely must tend to matters of greater priority.

[See what the transition means...]

Showers of Premonition

With each stoic drop,
Reflections of brighter day
With each passing wave,
The dancing shadows forecast
Victory with side of glee.
With each lively beat,
Premonition of great joy
And word on the street
Of chorus of hands and feet
Bringing an end to defeat!

WordPress and Comment Spam

WordPress uses the Akismet spam filtration system to prevent spam comments from inundating blog posts. While I find it effective (so far it zapped over 3,500 spam comments), lately it’s been slipping; over the last few weeks alone (most recently today), about three or four spams made it past the filter and into my moderation queue.

Speaking of moderation, allow me to state how I moderate comments here:

  • First-time commenters always hit the mod queue; once I see that it’s not spam or a troll post, I approve it.
  • Once I approve your first comment, all further comments you make are auto-approved.
  • I can edit any comment (auto-approved or not) at any time and as needed; so long as discourse is respectful I’ve no need to do so.

Any other WordPress bloggers experiencing an uptick of spam comments bypassing Akismet (or on the flip side, an uptick of false positives)?
